When all hope of Tarkin winning this contest is lost, he lures Vader into the open clearing he is all too familiar with. This clearing is known as the “Bad Grounds” because anyone who stands there is sure to be struck by lightning – and with Vader's mechanical body, he's guaranteed to be struck. Once Vader is struck by lightning, Tarkin claims victoryand avoids certain death.

The Schism Imperial used a large piece of red kyber to create a weapon that was effectively a “handheld Death Star”, which they used against Darth Vader. The Emperor lures Vader to his Exegol base, allowing him to see all the twisted experiments and monstrous weapons he has stored there. Palpatine then shows Vader the red cyber mountain he has assembled, which directly leads to Vader's defeat.
Palpatine uses the power derived from kyber's pain and suffering to crush Darth Vader with pure, dark side energy.While Palpatine himself stands at the center of it, it appears to stem from Cyber's great suffering. In the end, Darth Vader admits defeat and even reaffirms his loyalty to the Sith Master.
