19-Year-Old Bodybuilder Found Dead

A young bodybuilder was found dead in his home after what appeared to be a heart attack. Sphere and many other outlets.

Matheus Pavlak, 19, was found at his home in Blumenau, Brazil, on Sunday after suffering a heart attack, according to the Military Fire Department. His death has shaken the bodybuilding community, which is mourning the loss of the “determined, funny and friendly” athlete who took up the sport just five years ago, when he was 14, to combat obesity.

Matheus Hennings, 20, said: Sphere She said her late friend “beat her own mind” about her weight problems. “She always did whatever she could to accomplish things,” Hennings said.

Pavlak is pursuing a career in bodybuilding after graduating from high school in 2022. “He started training harder in 2019 because of obesity. When we met in 2022, we adjusted our training and started aiming for the championship,” said his former coach Lucas Chegatti, who worked with Pavlak until he won the U23 competition in 2023.

“We had a very strong friendship,” explained Hennings, who met Pavlak in sixth grade. “His parents and family have always been very dear to me and continue to be, treating me like a brother. And that’s how I saw him, a brother from another mother.”

“I still can't believe this happened to him so soon and so early,” she continued. “I didn't expect to lose a friend so young.”

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding Pavlak’s death. He was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Blumenau on Monday. That evening, Chegatti took to Instagram to commemorate his fallen student.

“Today ends on a sad day,” the translated statement reads. “The loss of a great friend, a wonderful child who left us too soon, a tragedy that caught us off guard. God has plans, it's hard to understand. I was his first coach and I'm so proud to have had the opportunity to care for him as a son. May God bring comfort to the family and take care of our son.”
