The Green Arrow Family Says What Every Fan Is Thinking
Oliver's New Way Goes Against His Leftist Principles
Fans of the Emerald Archer know that he's been one of the DC Universe's most socially conscious heroes for decades. Comic book icon Dennis O'Neil defiantly elevated Queen's character by writing Green Arrow as a more left-wing character. “Heroes of a Hard Journey” era Green Lantern/Green Arrow demonstrated Oliver's principles as he crusaded against corrupt businessmen and other disenfranchised people. Green Arrow's more left-leaning beliefs remained constant over the past few decades.

However, despite taking a stand against big business and corrupt rulers, Oliver shocked the world when he agreed to take up the cause with Amanda Waller. Waller was intentionally keeping Team Arrow apart as a means of manipulating Oliver, and unfortunately, it worked. When Green Arrow confronts Waller, he states that he is preparing for a war against the metahumans and needs someone he can trust on his side. Waller promised that if Oliver worked with him, his family would remain whole and safe and surprisingly, Green Arrow agreed.
…Oliver tells them he's no longer the Green Arrow and that he “trusts” Waller.
To his credit, Green Arrow told his family that he had been running a fake against Waller for a long time. But in an instant, everything changed dramatically and Green Arrow donned his new Task Force agent costume. After putting on a big show for Arsenal, Cheshire and Leanne, Oliver tells them he's no longer the Green Arrow and that he “believes” Waller. While Team Arrow is ordered to remain on Arrow Island, Green Arrow Waller's entire Amazo team went to work with Task Force VIIOne that drains the power of almost every hero on earth.
The Green Arrow Family no longer trusts him
They eventually reunited only to break up
As shocked as Team Arrow is at Green Arrow, the truth is that Oliver is probably working against Amanda Waller. He sets off on his own, gathering up time travel gear and supplies once given to him by the Martian Manhunter. While the scope of his plans has yet to be revealed, it's safe to say that Green Arrow is simply playing Waller and doing what it takes to prevent him from winning. Absolute Power. But even if he's not a traitor, It's clear that the Green Arrow team has destroyed their trust in him.
…All Oliver did by hiding his true intentions was fall into the same pattern of behavior.
The Green Arrow Followed the series as Oliver rebuilds his family and forces the hero to face the mistakes of his past. He understood the value of family and how important these people are to him. While he intended to protect Arsenal, Speedy, Connor, and everyone else on Team Arrow, everything Oliver did by hiding his true intentions fell into the same pattern of behavior. But unlike previous eras, this one is worse because Green Arrow actively participated in the attack on the superhero community of the entire DC Universe.
Fans looking at requirements for the future Green Arrow headlines may have noticed that Oliver has had a number of solo adventures. But considering how his family was hurt here, it's not exactly a shock. Yes, Oliver can do what he thinks is right, but Green Arrow's decision not to tell his family what happened has earned them their hatred and disapproval. They'll even fall apart about it, or at least, Keep the Green Arrow at bay until you find them in them to forgive him.
Can Green Arrow return to his team's good fortune?
Oliver Queen loses his family
Green Arrow fought like hell to get his family back and broke many rules to keep them safe during Absolute Power. But regardless of his intentions, Team Arrow has every right to be angry with him. Oliver probably knew there were no good options when he decided to work with Waller, but he'd rather have his family hate him and survive than whatever Waller is up to. hopefully Green Arrow he will find a way to make his family see him as something other than a fascist.
