2025 Aston Martin DBX707 Review

Sonoma Valley and the Pacific Coast Highway are the perfect places to zip around in the 2025 Aston Martin DBX707. But I wasn’t here to tour beautiful coastlines and sample fine wines. I was meant to take Aston Martin’s latest extraordinary machine through the adventurous canyon roads of Northern California. And that’s exactly what I did—while being blown away by the luxury SUV’s power, stance, and presence.

Hailing from Gaydon, Warwickshire, England, the British automaker, creator of sleek sports cars and four-door SUVs, produces vehicles that produce pure performance. Aston Martins are also known for their stunning cabins and breathtaking silhouettes with bold character features. The DBX707 in particular has been dubbed the supercar of SUVs by company insiders. Interested parties can cross-shop this vehicular Adonis with the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus and Audi RS Q8.

Aston Martin chief engineer Andy Tokley, who was present at the media drive event, explained the aim of making the DBX707 ergonomically friendlier, such as moving the gear selector to the centre console. However, don't expect a traditional full-size gear lever as Aston Martin uses a smaller tabbed gear lever.

Another major change to the DBX707 is the intuitive 10.25-inch infotainment system that serves as the brains of the SUV’s technologically overhauled cockpit, along with a larger 12-inch driver’s instrument cluster, which makes operating navigation, audio and vehicle settings simpler. Other changes include suspension software tuning, 360-degree cameras, a larger trunk lid spoiler, an enhanced exhaust system, steering calibrations and OTA (over-the-air) software updates. Finally, an audiophile-quality 23-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system with beautiful stainless steel speaker grilles transforms your DBX707 into a concert hall.

We set the tone as we sped along PCH from Healdsburg toward the ocean in a vibrant Supernova Red DBX707 in the early morning hours. The optional carbon fiber exterior package is a must-have for both style and added dynamics. It includes a clever carbon fiber chin spoiler, mirror caps, side blades, sill panels and a highly visible rear diffuser below the quad exhaust tips. The black glass roof contrasted with the Supernova Red hue. Other visually appealing color palettes include Cosmopolitan Yellow, Photon Lime and Synapse Orange.

The British SUV’s temperament is revealed through a responsive, 9-speed wet-clutch transmission (with long aluminum shift paddles) and a hand-built Mercedes-AMG 4-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 697 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Aston Martin fine-tunes the engine to suit its preferred performance style. The car accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 193 mph. The DBX707’s weight distribution is nearly balanced at 52/48.

The DBX707's massive carbon-ceramic braking system will bring you to a halt at high speeds when necessary. It's entrusted to you by 6-piston calipers and 16.5-inch rotors up front and 15.4-inch rotors at the rear. Optional staggered Pirelli P-Zero summer tires (285/35ZR23 and 325/30ZR23) wrap the 23×10 front and 23×11.5 rear forged rims.

Thanks to an advanced AWD system, a rear electronic limited-slip differential that can send 100% of the torque to the rear axle and a three-chamber air suspension with adaptive damping, the DBX707 remained stable during energetic acceleration and aggressive manoeuvres. It remained calm, confident and resilient on corkscrew roads. With this level of motorsport energy under the bonnet, you will feel forever young when you take your DBX707 out for a spin.

Inside the cabin, notice the mint layout and control center. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is thick and sporty, and the raised tuning provides direct feedback. Our All Spicy Red Semi-Aniline leather interior (including the instrument panel) was extra, but owners can choose standard colors like Onyx Black Semi-Aniline to balance the decor.

Selectable Dynamic Driving modes—Terrain, Individual, GT, Sport, and Sport+—let you control various levels of the DBX707's performance. In GT mode, the DBX707's acceleration is relaxed and gradual, and in Sport+ mode it's super-aggressive. In this case, I used Sport for a spirited drive while enjoying the climb of the digital speedometer. Cornering agility is impressive, and the venerable braking system is spot on.

With a starting MSRP of $249,000, the Aston Martin DBX707 is a near-perfect premium SUV for work or play. It’s handsome, supremely capable, and a sight to behold when flying with the exhaust flaps wide open. Aston Martins have achieved unimaginable success on the road (and track) over a 111-year history. Its latest SUV should comfortably continue that tradition.
