My Time At Sandrock: Complete Achievement/Trophy Guide

Sandrock lets you take your time with the gameplay, which gives you ample time to grab these 30 achievements.

But slice-of-life games like Sandrock are infamous for having tricky fishing mechanics, and between that and fish spawning in six different locations, our guide below has everything you need to know about fishing in My Time at Sandrock.

How To Fish

In My Time at Sandrock, fishing works a little differently than it does in other slice-of-life games like it. Sandrock is in the desert, meaning there’s not much water for traditional fishing.

However, you’ll be happy to know that sandfishing is a pastime in the arid region.

Your introduction comes when you bump into Elsie over at the fishing spot near Eufaula Salvage out in the Quarry behind your Workshop.

She’ll ask for help reeling something in, which serves as your first glimpse into fishing in My Time at Sandrock.

Elsie also offers you some basic fishing supplies in exchange for your help, to kickstart your fishing journey in Sandrock.

Overall, you’ll need a Sandfish Trap, which you can craft at your Workbench back home after this exchange with Elsie, and one of several types of fish bait to use with it.

Though you can use different traps in different locations, fishing spots around Sandrock only allow certain types of bait, which is how you’ll catch different fish in each one.

Once you have your tools, head out to one of the six fishing spots around Sandrock. These are marked on your map with a red fishing hook.

Engage with the fishing spot, and you’ll be able to choose which kind of bait to use, provided that the fishing spot allows that type of bait. After selecting it, throw the bait out into the fishing spot.

The fish you catch in each location change depending on the bait you use, and you can see which fish you’ll be catching as they approach your bait.

Though it sinks eventually, since bait doesn’t last forever, you’ll immediately notice a handful of fish that swim toward the bait.

When you’ve got a fish nibbling your bait, aim and throw the sandtrap at the fish that took the bait. You’ll catch it by throwing the trap at it, but just beware that this will spook other fish near the bait, so plan carefully when you plan to toss out your trap.

You may also occasionally find fish that can only be caught without using bait to fish, but these will be marked in our table below.

What Do You Use Fish For?

In My Time at Sandrock, there are plenty of uses for the assorted fish you’ll catch around the region.

Primarily, you’ll use it in cooking dishes either for yourself or as Commissions. The second tab of the Commissions board features cooked meals and ingredients that the townsfolk are searching for, which will often contain fish.

Additionally, for some of the townsfolk around Sandrock, specific fish make for great gifts for your friends. Some folks truly do enjoy receiving fish as a present!

Finally, you may occasionally be tasked with optional part-time work gathering resources for the Blue Moon Saloon. Owen will ask for your help periodically, typically asking for either crops from your Workshop or fish you’ve caught to use in his dishes at the Saloon.

All Traps And Baits

In the table below, you’ll find information about making different sandfish traps at your Workshop, as well as info about the different types of baits and where you’ll find them.
