As the tapes continue, Hannah is stalked by Tyler Down (Devin Druid), Courtney Crimson spreads rumors about her, witnesses Jessica's rape by Bryce Walker, the death of Jeff Atkins, and her own rape. Hannah's will to live slowly diminishes as she experiences more traumatic events and fewer people empathize with her situation. Eventually, Hannah takes her own life due to the great trauma she experienced. Additionally, she did not believe she had the resources or support she desperately needed to continue her life.

After a night of drinking, Sheri offers Hannah a ride home, but she is so drunk that she crashes a stop sign. Sheri does not report this and so the sign remains missing. As Jeff drove home and approached the same intersection, the stop sign was nowhere to be seen. He caused a car crash that resulted in his immediate death.


Clay was particularly affected by her death. After hearing what happened to Jeff, Clay visits the Atkins family and tells the parents that he was the first on the scene, assuring them that he didn't die alone. Jeff meant a lot to many characters in the film 13 reasonsand his death was unexpected and painful to many.

In 13 reasons Season 3, Bryce Walker mysteriously died at the hands of an unknown assailant. He was one of the most hated figures at Liberty High School and was known for sexually assaulting women. Despite season 3's attempts to provide Bryce with a redemption story, he continued to be one of the meanest people to appear on the series. As tensions rise between him and Zach Dempsey as it affects Zach's future in the sport, he is beaten by Zach and left fairly immobile.


When Alex sees him on the bridge, he pushes Bryce into the water and he drowns. Because of the trauma Alex and her friends had caused to his life, he was fueled with such hatred for Bryce that he committed murder. The group decided to frame Monty de la Cruz for the crime since he had already survived prison for attacking Tyler. Regardless, Alex killed Bryce on that bridge.

Monty de la Cruz died in the end 13 reasons Season 3. While in prison for assaulting Tyler, he was labeled a “child rapist” for his brutal attack on a classmate. After word spread in prison that Monty might be a child molester, he was targeted and killed by his fellow inmates.
