AMC Theatres has gone viral once again with an eyebrow-raising product tie-in, this time for the release of the highly anticipated movie Beetle juice Beetle juice last week. And like the horror-comedy sequel's eponymous antagonist, the cost won't be to everyone's liking.
In conjunction with the film, locations of the chain's MacGuffins Bar nationwide are serving up a concoction called the Sandworm Slayer. The signature drink is made with a blend of blue and black raspberry juice and “premium vodka” and topped with sour gummy “sandworms.” And at least one moviegoer paid a whopping $31 for it.
“I bought AMC Beetle juice Beetle juice “themed drink. It cost $31,” user X Andrew Woods wrote over the weekend. After another user asked if he had an extra chance to raise the price, Woods shared a photo of a sandwich board advertising the drink for $28.24 plus tax.

“If you drink three Beetlejuice shows up and takes your car back,” one user joked. “I would hate this movie if they paid $31 for some vodka and a few jelly beans,” another added.
“Nah, Beetlejuice should've come get me my drink for that price,” another user chimed in. Others noted that if it came in a collector's cup like the novelty popcorn buckets AMC is known for selling, perhaps the price would've been worth it — especially considering the discrepancy between the official lobby ad and the appearance of the actual drink.

In the statement Hollywood ReporterAMC said that at 92 percent of AMC locations nationwide, the Sandworm Slayer is priced at a slightly less wince-inducing $21 before tax, with the only location selling it for $31 overall apparently being in California. The chain added that the drink was “wildly popular around AMC, like many of our movie-related beverages, and sold very well over the weekend.”
Interestingly enough, this isn't even the first time a sandworm-related AMC product link has gone viral this year, otherwise we'd all have forgotten about it. Dune: Episode Two the innovative popcorn buckets that are trashing minds everywhere.
