It looks like Chicago Sky star Angel Reese will need some extra turnover after losing a $100,000 bet against four-time NBA champion Shaquille O'Neal.
On Wednesday, the recent LSU graduate posted a video on Instagram Stories from inside a gym with Shaq, who has been known to struggle with free throws throughout his professional career. “A hundred thousand dollars if you do this shot,” Reese says in the video reshared on X, formerly Twitter. “Let's see!”
And sure enough, O'Neal sank the shot, causing Reese to scream and laugh. “I think I owe him $100k,” he wrote under the video, along with a crying face emoji.

Reese did not specify where the video was shot, but banners reading “Mount Carmel Volleyball” could be seen hanging from the rafters; This indicated that the couple was likely at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Reese's hometown of Baltimore, MD. The 22-year-old plays for St. Louis in Baltimore, where he started his career as a four-year varsity basketball player. Even though he attended Frances Academy.
“Look who came home,” he wrote in another story published Wednesday.
Reese and O'Neal, who also played for the LSU Tigers, became close when she was a part of the Lady Tigers team under coach Kim Mulkey. Estimated to be one of the highest-earning college athletes from name, image and likeness (NIL) deals along with LSU classmate Livvy Dunne, Reese signed as Reebok's first NIL athlete after Shaq was named the brand's President of Basketball. In October 2023.
Unfortunately, Reese's first WNBA season with the Sky ended early after she suffered a broken ankle in a game against the Los Angeles Sparks last month. He has since had surgery.
