Blue ProtocolBandai Namco's online action role-playing game Online will be discontinued. A statement on the Blue Protocol The website explains that the title will be delisted in January 2025.
Bandai Namco Online described the decision to shut down the service as “difficult” and confirmed that plans to distribute the title in the West in partnership with publisher Amazon Games have also been shelved.
“We've had a strong relationship with Amazon Games throughout the development of Blue Protocoland both of our teams are disappointed that we will not be able to distribute the game to players around the world,” the statement read.
“We know this is disappointing news and we share your disappointment. We love the world and characters of Blue Protocol and were thrilled to welcome players from around the world to Regnas. We join Bandai Namco Online in expressing our deepest gratitude to the passionate fans who have followed Blue Protocol development and participated in the closed technical test.”
Following the news, Amazon Games removed Blue Protocol's FAQ and a blog post announcing its partnership with Bandai Namco Online from its website.
Blue Protocol It was announced as a free-to-play title with a “dynamic combat system, deep character customization, and an epic story set in a vast world.” It was scheduled to launch for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
Expanding on the news in another statementBandai Namco Online stated that they wanted to meet player expectations, but ultimately felt that the project would not meet expectations.
“We know that there has been great anticipation for Blue Protocol since the game was first announced. We wanted to offer an experience that felt like stepping into the world of anime, and we challenged ourselves to create a world where every single player could experience adventures like the main character of the anime,” the statement added.
“We have been working hard to prepare for the release; however, we have come to the conclusion that it will not be possible to provide a service that satisfies all of you. We deeply apologize for the sudden announcement.”
