Baseball Fan Fainted by Home Run

An unfortunate incident occurred over the holiday weekend in St. Petersburg, Florida. A fan was knocked unconscious after hitting a home run during a Tampa Bay Rays-Minnesota Twins game on Monday night.

The ball was hit by Twins star Trevor Larnach and sent into right field, where a man tried to catch it with his bare hands. After missing the ball, he was instead hit in the head, prompting nearby fans to call for medical help. In a video shared by the Twins, he is seen being hit in the face and falling back into his seat:

A nearby stadium patron captured the incident on video.

Fortunately, the fan was not seriously injured and Larnach had the opportunity to meet him later in the match. In a post-match interview Bally Sports NorthLarnach said he signed a bat for the man

“I was able to talk to him,” he said. “Thankfully he's fine, but it's scary, man. I've never seen anything like it before, so it was good to be able to talk to him.”

Minnesota won the game 5-4, so Larnach's dangerous home run had some pretty significant consequences.
