While appearing on The Skinny Confidential on October 20 Him and Him On the podcast, Bill Maher admitted that his dating habits were “not age appropriate” and sent a strong message to his detractors.
Maher, 68, told hosts Michael Bosstick and Lauryn Evarts Bosstick is “not looking” at the moment and that his unavailability makes him more “attractive” to some women. “Nothing I could have predicted when I was your age has happened,” Maher said. “I would never have imagined that anyone at this age—and again, as I would say in general—my dating would be so age-appropriate,” she admitted.
Real time The presenter immediately predicted that he would face backlash for this statement, but told his critics to calm down. “Fuck the people who are upset about this,” Maher said. “You do you, I do me. You do what works for you.”
Later in the interview, Maher explained why the institution of marriage was not for him. “I don't believe in it. It's not Hinduism, there is no belief in it,” he said about marriage. “That would ruin everything. So I won't do it,” he said. “I love talking about it, but it's hard because I also never want to reveal the details of my own personal life.”
The comedian came to the realization after spending so long looking for “the one” because he felt like that was what he was supposed to do. “This has definitely been in my head for a very long time, you [have to] find someone, it's like an Easter egg hunt and you find the egg and then everything is perfect,” Maher said. “I've definitely never seen life work that way and [it] It didn't work for me.”
