Blade Runner RPG's new expansion asks how far you'd go for the Rebellion of the Replicators

A new expansion for the official Blade Runner tabletop role-playing game invites you to join the Replicant Rebellion.

Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game is based on the film series based on Phillip K. Dick's science fiction novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Blade Runner, the first of these films, was released in 1982 and was directed by Ridley Scott. In the film, Harrison Ford plays Deckard, a Blade Runner, an officer whose sole purpose is to hunt down and eliminate Replicants, or human-like androids, who is tasked with finding and killing three escaped Replicants. Following the original film, Blade Runner 2049 is a sequel directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling. In Blade Runner 2049, Gosling plays K, a Replicant Blade Runner who must track down a long-escaped Replicant fugitive and investigate the truth behind her death.

Both films take place in the same fictional science fiction universe in which Replicants were designed and created solely to serve the needs and desires of their human creators. The Blade Runner franchise is known for its cyberpunk aesthetic, as well as its bleak vision of a near-future in which corporations can commit terrible acts without consequence and exploit large groups of people.

Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game typically has players take on the role of Blade Runners within the Los Angeles Police Department during the time period between the first and second films. However, instead of fulfilling their duties as replicant-hunting officers, the sci-fi RPG's next expansion has players abandoning their post to join the replicant underground.

Replicant Rebellion is a new expansion for the Blade Runner role-playing game in which players are recruited into the Replicant Underground, a secret organization whose goal is to secure the freedom and liberation of the Replicants – whatever the cost.

Players will become members of the movement and lead their own independent group as they carry out a variety of missions on behalf of the underground. From planting explosive charges to sabotaging the replicant trade and uncovering moles, players must be prepared for all kinds of tasks. Group members may even find themselves between a rock and a hard place as they balance their personal morality with the operations of the replicant underground.

Both the Replicant Rebellion expansion and the Blade Runner RPG were published and created by Free League Publishing, the studio behind other licensed TRPGs such as the Alien RPG.

A crowdfunding campaign for Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game – Replicant Rebellion will launch on Kickstarter on May 28.
