Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is bringing a change to the wider franchise by allowing players to decide what to download from the games.
In a new blog On the series' website, the developers revealed that players will be able to remove Call of Duty: Warzone from the annual entries download. This change will go into effect next Wednesday, August 21st.
Previous Call of Duty games have become known for their great file size at launch, which grow further during their individual life cycles. Much of this can be included in free-to-play battle royalewhose updates change with each new game.
In separating War zone from the annual game, Call of Duty will be treated as a platform service similar to the recent Jackbox game unified library or possibly Assassin's Creed Infinity.
“When you purchase an annual title, you will by default only download the files for that game,” the Call of Duty team wrote. “We want to give players the ability to download every Call of Duty, including War zonewhen and how they wish.”
If a player wishes to download it alongside the annual game, that option remains available, or they can download it separately at any time they choose.
Call of Duty is rolling out some quality of life updates
In other changes, a new user interface will launch in mid-October before Black Ops 6. Both War zone and the most recent annual match will be posted on the front page for “ease of access”, while previous or most recently played matches will be displayed in the player's franchise library.
Placing games in a central location is beneficial in several ways, the CoD team said. In addition to giving War zone a permanent home and helps players switch games faster, reduces file size, and solves previous “technology and content management problems”.
“Our goal is to provide a place where players can come in and enjoy any Call of Duty experience they want: download and play what they want, when they want.”
