Confirming a long-standing rumor, world-famous brands Oreo and Coca-Cola are coming together to release two special limited-edition products inspired by each other.
Coca-Cola’s new Oreo-flavored Zero Sugar Limited Edition soda will be available at retailers nationwide for a limited time only starting next month, along with a free Oreo Coca-Cola-flavored cookie.
Coca-Cola's Oreo-flavored innovation is officially called “Fizzy-Cookie Flavored” on the can and “features delicious hints of Oreo cookies.” Meanwhile, Oreo's Coca-Cola cookie combines the cream sandwich cookie everyone loves with “a flavor Coca-Cola fans know and love, and popping candy that creates a 'bubbly' sensation with every bite.”
The cookies are made with two different flavored “base cakes” coated with sweet cola frosting. One base cake is a classic chocolate-flavored cookie infused with Coca-Cola syrup. The other is a gold-flavored cookie dyed red and embossed with the Coca-Cola logo.
Men's Magazine I've tried both new products and can say that both are exactly what the package promises. Coca-Cola's Fizzy Cookie Flavored has some light cookie notes, but overall it tastes pretty similar to Vanilla Coke. Mixing in a little heavy cream brings out the cookie notes — like the best cookies and cream soda you've ever had — but it's not a highly recommended course of action.
Oreo cookies pair surprisingly well with Coke's tanginess. The mild chocolate chip cookie is slightly accented with hints of Coke and is expertly balanced by its golden cookie-flavored counterpart. They're finished with a creamy frosting that's not too hard but firm and perfect for scooping on its own, and they feature mini pop stones that resonate in your gums long after the cookies are gone. Unfortunately, they don't fizz when combined with soda.
To celebrate the union of these brand “best friends,” Coca-Cola and Oreo are partnering with Spotify to bring you closer to your best friend. Anyone with a Spotify account can scan a QR code on their Coca-Cola or Oreo product and follow the steps to create a playlist featuring you and your friend's combined music preferences.
The special, limited-time collaboration between Oreo and Coca-Cola will be available at retailers nationwide starting September 9.
