Chris Martin had a scary moment at a Coldplay concert in Melbourne, Australia, on Sunday. The 47-year-old actor tumbled into a trapdoor on stage but luckily appeared uninjured and even joked about the incident immediately afterwards.
In the moments before the fall, Martin could be seen doing crowd work in the video, asking the 50,000 concertgoers gathered at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium where they were from. After receiving cheers from the visitors from India, Martin was seen walking backwards, apparently unaware of the open hatch directly behind him.
He suddenly fell through the hole in the stage, causing the crowd to gasp loudly. As Martin regained his composure and returned to the stage, he said into the microphone: “This wasn't planned, thank you for catching me.”
βThanks guys, oh my God,β he continued, adding, βit would probably be a YouTube moment.β

Martin is currently in the middle of his life Music of the Spheres International world tour with Coldplay, which has been ongoing since March 2022 and is planned to last until September 2025. It then heads to Sydney, Australia, and Auckland, New Zealand, to close out the year before starting again in January.
Coincidentally, Martin's fall came just weeks after the same thing happened to Olivia Rodrigo, albeit at a different venue in Melbourne. The 21-year-old fell through a hole in the stage while running sideways and pointing at fans on the final night of the Melbourne leg of the Guts tour at Rod Laver Arena.

Luckily Rodrigo was also uninjured, but performers need to pay more attention to their surroundings or start performing covered in bubble wrap.
