Colin Jost Reveals His Reaction to Scarlett Johansson's Expensive Ferry Purchase

Colin Jost comes clean People It's about how his wife, Scarlett Johansson, reacted to her and Pete Davidson's purchase of a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry.

The purchase, which Jost called “the dumbest and least thought-out purchase I've ever made,” came as a surprise to Johansson, despite her husband claiming to have “gently broached” the idea ahead of the purchase.

“She just said, ‘Wait, so this boat belongs to you now?’” Jost said of Johansson’s initial reaction. “That’s a very fair question,” he said. After paying a total of $280,000 for the boat, Jost, Davidson and their co-investor Paul Italia were left scratching their heads over what to do with it. It was announced earlier this month as the location of Tommy Hilfiger’s 2024 fashion show. The trio of owners are considering a variety of uses for the ferry, including a hotel with several restaurants.

Now that Johansson sees a tangible use for it, she's softened her decision to buy it, even offering her husband some advice from her own career, hoping that the Staten Island Ferry will be more than a footnote in Jost and Davidson's careers.

“He clearly sees the value of it now,” Jost reported, “but I think he's also saying, 'It's become something that defines you and something that's interesting to you. So you have to take it seriously and find the best version of it, because for better or worse, it's going to reflect you.'”

But Jost admits that he and Davidson were slow to embrace Johansson's advice. “We don't care,” he said, “because we're comedians.”
