Take a look at the episode below and get ready to binge Supremes at Earl's All-You-Eat When it hits Hulu on August 23rd.

Why Bostic's blend of classical and jazz is perfect for Earl's at the Supremes.

As seen in the video above, Bostic wrote a mostly traditional orchestral score Supremes at Earl's All-You-Eat. Although augmented by other elements, the direction of account seems to be a strong choice. The best film scores are often inextricably linked to the characters' journeys, and the many colors and textures of a full orchestra can lend themselves quite well to a story about decades of ups and downs in life and friendship. What Bostic had to say about his scores:

Kathryn Bostic: The score follows the growing friendship of the three main characters; As Clarice, Odette and Barbara-Jean explore the challenges and triumphs in their lives. I chose a simple melody that grows in variations and moods to reflect their personal catharsis, which inevitably also tests their friendship. The instrumentation is primarily orchestral and piano, with some bluesy guitar, vocal and bass motifs added. I wanted the score to support this brilliant cast and enhance their dynamic performance in very subtle ways.

On the other hand, there are elements of a period piece Supremes at Earl's All-You-Eatit's also a smart move by Bostic to pull pieces of popular music from that era. The film's title checks one of the biggest musical acts of the 1960s, so it only makes sense to give a musical nod to blues and jazz. Whether or not Diana Ross's iconic voice features fade from the film, Bostic's voice will help viewers through the various story arcs.

in an interview with The Washington Postbehind the filmmakers Supremes at Earl's All-You-Eat also discussed making their own version of the “feel-good” movie. For this, Bostic's mix of classical and jazz and blues music makes sense. Everyone knows the feeling of hearing an uplifting movie soundtrack, but the experience isn't always as exhilarating as hearing a bouncy, uplifting song. Bostic is a skilled songwriter, arranger, and composer, and his ability to utilize both skill sets means that audiences can be guided through the ups and downs of this highly anticipated 2024 film as pleasantly as possible.
