Customer Paid $13,000 for America's Most Expensive Martini

Spending thousands of dollars on liquor is nothing new, considering that items like a bottle of Louis XIII cognac can easily run you several thousand dollars. But paying over $10,000 for a single drink is much less common. But when a Chicago restaurant added a unique $13,000 martini to its menu, a customer knew he had to have it.

Italian restaurant Adalina has started offering customers a $13,000 “Marrow Martini” served with a tennis necklace by California-based jeweler Marrow Fine. The necklace is made of 14-karat gold and features 150 diamonds. The cocktail, which has a staggering price tag, is claimed to be the most expensive martini in the United States.

The Marrow Martini was created by Colin Hofer, Michelin Guide's sommelier of the year 2022. The drink is made with Clase Axul Mezcal, clarified aged tomato juice and lemon basil olive oil. When it arrives at your table, it is presented to you in a smoke-filled bell.

“The customer who purchased the martini wanted to do something special and surprise his wife,” said Marrow Fine founder Jillian Sassone. CBS News“They both love Marrow Fine and the martini was the perfect gift. They were the first to order it.”

Hofer added that the unique presentation was created to complement the flavors of the one-of-a-kind martini. “This step not only highlights the uniqueness of the drink, but also enhances the natural smokiness of the mezcal, turning it into something truly unforgettable,” he said.

If you're in the Chicago area and want to treat a loved one to something special, you may want to consider ordering a Marrow Martini.
