Superman and Doomsday, the infamous genetically engineered creature on Krypton, share a long and lore-filled history that begins with Doomsday's debut. Superman: Man of Steel #17 (1992). Often depicted as an almost unstoppable force of destruction, Doomsday possesses powers that rival Superman's own, including superhuman strength, speed and durability, and the ability to adapt and evolve, making him an ever-evolving threat. He is most famous for killing the Man of Steel Death of Superman storyline and returns to the Kal-El fight again Return of Superman.
These storylines established Doomsday as one of Superman's most formidable, iconic, and iconic foes. So the latest tease of partnership between these legendary foes is nothing short of an earthquake. This revelation was hinted at at the end of the work Superman #19 and clearly confirmed in the synopsis for Superman #22: “A secret alien attack team has arrived on Earth with its sights set on the greatest weapon in the universe… Doomsday. And the only one who can save the ultimate destroyer is Superman!” Based on this teaser, Clark will undoubtedly be putting his life on the line to save his greatest enemy, completely redefining his relationship in the process.

While the synopsis for Superman #22 raises more questions than it answers – why would Superman help Doomsday in the first place, given their tumultuous history?Superman #19 provides additional information about the situation. In this issue, Superwoman and Superman rush to the scene, only to find that doomsday has laid waste to their beloved city. But in a surprising twist, time suddenly stops and only Clark is unaffected. It is soon revealed that this is the work of the Time Trapper. However, this is not the biggest revelation; the infamous villain then takes off his hood and reveals his true identity as doomsday— albeit a quieter, better-spoken, and leaner version of the Kryptonian creature currently frozen in time.
After this announcement, Time Trapper Doomsday makes a surprising request to the Man of Steel: “We've been enemies for millennia, Superman. But now I need your help.” The comic ends with this line, leaving fans wondering what Clark's answer will be. But when paired with desire Superman #22, the man of steel is guaranteed to agree to help his mortal enemy. This raises many questions: Why does Doomsday turn to Superman for help? Why did Clark agree to help him? What danger will they face together? And could this partnership change their dynamic from enemies to allies permanently?

In DC lore, the Time Trapper is known for his ability to manipulate time and has taken on many identities, including the Warden, the hero Rokk Krynn, the teenage girl Lori Morning, and the villain Superboy-Prime. with Doomsday Now, using this power, you can potentially use your own and Superman's history—though that doesn't guarantee it will, certainly enters the realm of possibility and opens the door to a complete rewriting of long-established lore.
