Delta Air Lines flies long-haul flights from the U.S. to destinations around the world, and for some passengers, those journeys will become less monotonous.
Delta announced Aug. 12 that it will bring free Wi-Fi to more international flights as part of an ongoing expansion of the program across its entire fleet. The free streaming-quality connection is available on about 700 Delta aircraft, which make up more than 90 percent of the domestic mainline fleet, according to a company statement. By the end of this year, when several international routes are scheduled to come online, most Delta customers will have some form of free Wi-Fi, regardless of destination.
“As we continue to deliver fast, free Wi-Fi and the inflight experiences it supports, we are able to serve customers traveling both domestically and internationally in new, instantaneous ways,” said Ranjan Goswami, Delta’s senior vice president of customer experience design. “The scale at which we are offering customers free Wi-Fi is unmatched in the airline industry and is a testament to the incredible efforts of Delta teams across the business who have mastered a highly complex offering.”

Starting this month, customers will be offered free Wi-Fi on Delta flights to and from the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy. Next month, it will be available on Delta flights to and from Iceland, Ireland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland.
In October, flights to South America and Hawaii will be available with free Wi-Fi to and from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. In December 2024 and January 2025, Delta’s West African flights to and from Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal will be available with free Wi-Fi. By the end of next year, flights to and from Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa are expected to have free Wi-Fi.
While Wi-Fi is currently available on many international Delta flights, it typically comes at a cost that varies by flight length and geography. The company’s new satellite dishes on its planes will change that.
Enduring those brutal international flights will be a lot easier when you get free access to your Netflix account.
