Eminem announced that he will be a grandfather in his new music video released on Thursday.
Hailie Jade Scott, the 51-year-old musician's eldest daughter with his ex-wife Kim Scott, is expecting her first child with her husband Evan McClintock. The announcement comes just five months after their wedding in May. Eminem used the music video for his new song “Temporary” as a de facto baby announcement and tribute to his own daughter. It was a fitting way to announce the new member of the family, as Scott had been mentioned in his father's songs since his birth 28 years ago.
The video features memories from throughout Scott's life, including baby photos, footage of his father walking him down the aisle at his wedding, and the moment he found out he was going to be a grandfather. Towards the end of the video, Scott gives his father his beloved Detroit Lions jersey with “Grandpa” written on the back. There's an ultrasound photo wrapped inside the jersey, and the proud dad shows it to the camera with a look of disbelief.
The gender and expected birth date of Scott's baby are not yet known.
Scott graduated from Michigan State with a degree in psychology. He currently works as an influencer and co-hosts the podcast Just a Little Shady. She and McClintock have been in a relationship since 2017 and got engaged in February 2023. TMZ The May nuptials took place in a “modest-sized” ceremony with a select group of close friends and family, he said.
In 2001, Eminem told the British press: Q (via People) said the birth of his first daughter was a real wake-up call for me. “It allowed me to do things with my life and try 10 quadrillion times harder than I had ever done before.”
Eminem is also the stepfather of Kim Scott's ex-boyfriend Eric Hartter and Stevie Laine Scott, whom Kim shares with her niece Alaina Marie Scott.
