REI’s massive Labor Day sale is in full swing with over 3,500 brand-new discounts on camping gear, fall apparel, bikes, and more. Keen Footwear is a big part of the sale, with each of the brand’s 110+ styles of hiking boots, walking shoes, sandals, and sneakers at least 25% off their regular price through September 2.
Keen’s most prominent item during REI’s Labor Day sale was the Targhee IV hiking boot. It’s a new version of the famous Targhee boot collection, and the latest iteration we haven’t seen on sale before. The fan-favorite high-top Targhee II hiking boot is available in three colors, but Keen’s Newport H2 Sandal, worn by fishermen, beach lovers, and comfort enthusiasts, is available in a whopping 13 colors for less than $100. Men's Magazine We browsed all of Keen's products during the sale and found four items we'll be adding to our cart ASAP.
Keen Targhee IV Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots Bison/Black, $127 (was $170) at REI
The Targhee IV is Keen’s latest flagship hiking boot in the Targhee series, with a few great upgrades over its predecessor. Keen built this boot with a new type of sole, ditching traditional cementing for an injected construction that creates a better bond between the upper and the rubber, reducing the rate of delamination or sole drop. It’s also made with more recycled materials. Otherwise, it has the same features that Keen users have come to love over the years, like its great durability, great toe and underfoot protection, and all-day comfort on long trails.
What Shoppers Say: “Best Keen boots ever. Great fit and solid quality, also the walking feel is impressive.”

Keen Targhee II Waterproof Hiking Shoes Cascade Brown/Gold, $116 (was $155) at REI
Despite being two iterations old, Keen’s Targhee II hiking shoe still has a loyal fan base. Some say the Targhee II is more comfortable, but they may be onto something—in reality, the heel is a bit higher, which gives it a more sturdy hiking shoe feel, whereas newer models are designed more in the vein of a hiking sneaker. This shoe is still made of premium leather and features Keen’s waterproof membrane, and if comfort is your top priority, it might be worth opting for an older style over the updated models.
What Shoppers Say: “This is my fourth pair of Targhee IIs. I work outside almost 80% of the time and wear them every day. They are comfortable, provide great support, are durable and hold up to the daily grind and abuse. I love them!”

Keen’s Newport H2 sandals are a great pair for anglers everywhere who want sandals that are as comfortable as Crocs, with even more durability and traction. These sandals feature the brand’s beloved toe bumper, perfect for rocky days on the water, and the rib design provides maximum support while ensuring proper drainage. Underneath, the razor-sharp grooved soles offer tons of grip—a confidence-inspiring feature when dealing with blades and hooks—and are designed not to tarnish a boat’s white deck.
What Shoppers Say: “This is my fourth pair of Newport sandals… I have a hard time finding comfortable, well-fitting shoes, but Keen sandals are always satisfying. They have a supportive footbed, and I love the adjustable straps that keep my feet in place while I walk.”

Keen doesn’t just make shoes for hiking; the brand also has a selection of lifestyle shoes, like the KS86 sneakers, which take inspiration from the exploits of their outdoor cousins and package them in a more casual way. This pair replaces the toothed lugs with a cylindrical, wavy sole that’s perfect for business-casual situations. It comes in five cool colors to match your off-road style—some bright, some neutral.
