Super Mario RPG features a classically inspired battle system most players love. It has all the best stuff: different attack types, elemental attacks, healing effects and more. Mix these with five well-designed characters and plenty of useful items, and you have all the components needed to have a good time.
But with the good must also come the bad. Fights would be boring if there wasn’t a way to lose, after all. Taking damage is one obvious bad, but another and often equally frustrating obstacle is the use of status effects. Read through this guide to learn what the status effects are and what they do.
Regular Status Effects, Explained
There are five main status effects in Super Mario RPG:
- Poison
- Silence
- Fear
- Sleep
- Down
Each of them affects Mario and his friends in unique and troublesome ways. Fortunately, there are simple methods to cure most of these conditions.
You can prevent a character from being affected by these effects at all by wearing certain gear, such as the Safety Badge, Antidote Pin and Fearless Pin.
