Death’s Door: Where To Find Every Shiny Thing

A total of 24 Shiny Things are scattered throughout Death’s Door — here’s where to find each of them.

Including the starting sword, there are five total weapons available for reaping souls that are available throughout the course of the story. If getting 100 percent of the game is on your list, make sure to grab each weapon.

The Discarded Umbrella is the first possible alternate weapon found in the game. After talking to the crow in the Hall of Doors who gives the assignment for the Giant Soul, head up the stairs to the left of the main room and keep going left.

Leaning next to a lamppost is the umbrella, the least powerful weapon in the game. However, there is an achievement attached to it, so it is worth considering just because of that fact. And, of course, you’ll look rather dapper swinging it around.

3 Rogue Daggers

Next up are the Rogue Daggers. Found on the Estate of the Urn witch, these daggers are excellent for refilling spell slots as they have the fastest hit combo in the game. To find them, head through the Ceramic Manor door. Make your way down to the courtyard with the fire pit and four enemies, and then turn left (southeast).

Death’s Door: 13 Tips For Completing An Umbrella Only Run

The Umbrella is an underpowered joke weapon in Death’s Door, but the game will dare you to try using it exclusively. Here are some tips.

Defeat the Black Knight mini-boss and you’ll find a puzzle with four quadrants, each containing an unlit fire. This puzzle is actually for a green health shard, but there is a lever on the northeast quadrant that will open the gate in the adjacent section. Follow that path, defeating the waves of enemies, and at the end just before returning to the Ceramic Manor will be the daggers.

2 Thunder Hammer

If reenacting any of Thor’s great moves is interesting, picking up the Thunder Hammer is a must. This weapon, located in the Overgrown Ruins only requires obtaining the flame spell to access the area. First, the Forest Mother will need help finding her horn. Once returned, she will open the gates to the Mushroom Dungeon.

Inside The Mushroom Dungeon

From the front entrance, make your way northeast into the Ancient Door room, and take the door on the lower level to the northwest. Take a sharp left, and keep progressing through the rooms heading toward the western side. Depending on how far into the Mushroom Dungeon you’ve explored, there may be a smattering of enemies and encounters to get through.

When in the large room with the stairs, in the northernmost corner there is a ladder. Take it up, and head back outside.

Overgrown Ruins

Finally, follow the outermost wall of the Overgrown Ruins north, taking two ladders until you turn the corner. Drop to the platform with the fountain on it, and pull the lever to reveal the next ladder, and open the door on the further platform. Drop down, and go through the door. There will be one more drop to take, and you’ll land right next to the Thunder Hammer.

1 Reaper’s Greatsword

Location

Castle Lockstone

Damage

x 1.25

Swings

x 2

Range

x 3

One of the best weapons in the game is also the hardest to acquire. Locked behind a four-step puzzle, the Reaper’s Greatsword boasts a high attack and range. Initiate the quest by heading to the Stranded Sailor, and behind the restaurant will be a dock and a hook shot post. Use the post and make an immediate right to another hook shot. On the landing, the sword is visible but locked behind a gate with four slots.

Every Boss In Death’s Door And How To Defeat Them

There are a total of eight bosses in Death’s Door. Here’s who they are and how to defeat them.

Hint #1

Next to that gate reads a plaque: “There are weaknesses in the wall that the eye can’t see…Beneath a wooden walkway, a secret waits for thee.” Make your way back to the mainland, and underneath the tall wooden staircase leading to Castle Lockstone, send the bomb spell at the empty wall. A small crack will appear which you can enter.

Hint #2

In that room there will be a switch and another plaque, reading: “There are weaknesses in the wall that the eye can’t see…Behind twin columns, a secret waits for thee.” Hit the switch, and continue up toward Castle Lockstone, and underneath the platform that leads to the castle, there will be two columns with upside-down anchors on top. Bomb the space between them to find the second room.

Hint #3

The third plaque in the room states: “There are weaknesses in the wall that the eye can’t see…Where a giant face stares, a secret waits for thee.” This hint is probably the most obvious of the four, as on the platform just to the right there is a large goblin-looking stone face staring directly at the wall. Once again, use that bomb spell right where the face is staring to open up a hole and flip the second to last switch.

Hint #4

The last switch, of course, is the most hidden of the four. The plaque in the face room reads: “There are weaknesses in the wall that the eye can’t see…Beneath a gargoyle, a secret waits for thee.” Keep going to the right up on the next stone platform and smash through the ice crystals located there.

By this point in the game, the secrets should be no surprise. Continue walking past the crystals and the perspective should shift, revealing the backside of the platform with a gargoyle perched. Blast a hole right underneath it, and flip the final switch. The gate leading to the Greatsword should open in a cutscene and you can claim your prize.
