'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Star Stabbed to Death

Extreme Change: Home Edition Eduardo Xol, best known as the landscape designer on the popular ABC reality series, has died a week after reportedly being stabbed. He was 58.

TMZ Xol was reported dead on Thursday, September 19, while receiving treatment at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he also resided. Police responded to a call at Xol's apartment on September 10 and found him with “significant injuries” when they arrived. He was transported to a local hospital in “serious but stable condition”, but there is no word on the cause of death.

Police have since arrested a suspect, Richard Joseph Gonzales, 34, of Cathedral City, CA, on suspicion of attempted murder. However, authorities are reportedly seeking murder charges against Gonzales, who is being held without bail.

In addition to starring in the series' second through eighth seasons, Extreme Change: Home EditionXol also appeared in several soap operas broadcast around the world early in his career, including Acapulco, Cuerpo and Alma, Emotions AjenosAnd Golden Sand; also produces music and videos.

Following Xol's passing, his friend Richard Pérez-Feria remembered him with a touching message on Instagram.

“It's almost incomprehensible that I'm writing this to say goodbye to someone so important and so close to me in my life,” Pérez-Feria wrote alongside a gallery of photos of them together over the years, adding that she was “numb” when she learned of Xol's death.

“This information was impossible to process because it did not align with the thousands of experiences I had with him,” she continued. “Please do not ask me how or why right now… what matters most is who he was: a talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son, and husband. The millions of laughs, hopes, and secrets we shared continue to be at the forefront of my thoughts.”

“I want to honor my dear friend and celebrate his life as someone important to many. He was certainly important to me. I send my healing love to the circle of friends and family who loved him so much in this terrible time,” concluded Pérez-Feria.
