A suspect is in custody after police found the body of a missing Georgia mother and TikTok fitness influencer near WalMart, where she was last seen a week ago.
On Tuesday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement that they had found the remains of 25-year-old Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez. That same day, 24-year-old Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches was arrested in Atlanta on kidnapping charges in connection with the murder of Rodriguez-Ramirez. Authorities say he will be charged in the near future.
Rodriguez-Ramirez was last seen on October 22 at WalMart in Cornelia, GA. That evening around 9:30 p.m., Rodriguez-Ramirez sent a text to her fiancé, Julio Tovor: “Waiting for my brother to pick her up.” But Tovor doesn't believe Rodriguez-Ramirez sent that message. “It didn't make sense. “He doesn't talk like that,” he said. “Minelys talked a lot about her daughter. He cared about his daughter,” Tovor said.
Authorities say it's unclear why the victim was at WalMart the night she disappeared or whether she and Rivera-Sanches had any connection to each other. Witnesses reported seeing two separate cars — a dark SUV and a gold minivan — orbiting Rodriguez-Ramirez in the parking lot that evening.
An autopsy is currently being performed. Rivera-Sanches is expected to be charged with murder, but the cause of death or motive for the crime has not been released.
