Former NFL Star Arrested Over Alleged Urination Incident On Plane

A Delta flight from Boston to Dublin over the weekend resulted in the arrest of former NFL offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus.

Accordingly CBS NewsMassachusetts State Police were called to Boston Logan Airport after a Delta flight headed to Dublin turned around and returned to the airport at around 2 a.m. on Aug. 18. Authorities said in a statement that the flight turned back “due to a disobedient passenger urinating on another passenger on the plane.”

Upon arrival, they identified the passenger in question as Cherilus. “The soldiers verbally ordered Cherilus to leave the plane, but he became enraged and uncooperative. Eventually, the soldiers escorted Cherilus to the jet bridge and arrested him,” police recounted.

Cherilus reportedly appeared intoxicated when he arrived at the airport and argued with another passenger about seating arrangements before the plane took off. Finally, about an hour after takeoff, he allegedly walked up to an elderly woman, exposed himself and “emptied his entire bladder over the course of approximately 20 seconds.”

The flight crew jumped into action and tried to stop him, but he reportedly became aggressive, according to court documents, and allegedly even hit an elderly man with his hand as he was walking back to his seat.

When the plane landed back at the airport, they were greeted by authorities, with Cherilus arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing the flight crew. There is also a federal investigation underway since the incident occurred in Canadian waters.

Cherilus was arraigned in Boston on August 19 and released on $2,500 bail. He made no comment to reporters as he left the courthouse.

Following the disaster in the early hours of the morning, other passengers bound for Dublin were sent on another flight later in the day on August 18.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to this end,” a Delta spokesperson said. USA Today “We apologize to our customers for any delays to their travels,” they said in a statement.
