Frankie Valli Denies 'Elder Abuse' Allegations After Harrowing Concert Footage

Legendary singer Frankie Valli has responded to alarming performance footage circulating on social media, prompting some to question whether the iconic singer was a victim of “elder abuse.” However, the singer put these theories aside and said: People“Nobody made me do anything I didn't want to do.”

This marked the second time in six weeks that Valli assured fans that he would perform voluntarily, but the first statement came from his representatives. Since mid-summer, images of Valli confused and unable to lip-sync to her most famous songs have gone viral on social media. On August 13, her representatives released a statement reassuring Valli that she was “fine” following alarming video from a concert in California on August 3.

“I know there's been a lot of stuff floating around about me on the internet lately, so I wanted to clear the air,” Valli began. “I'm so lucky to be 90 years old and still doing what I love to do. As long as I can and the audience wants to see me, I'll be out there performing and I absolutely love what I do because our fans still come out strong and it still looks great.”

Valli later tried to explain why she didn't sing as much in the footage that was circulated. Many performance clips show Valli barely able to lip-sync to recordings of her most iconic songs, while backup singers do their best to fill in the cracks.

“The Four Seasons sound was always about layering vocals and instruments. We use our 60 years of experience to make it sound like records,” said Valli. “I sing, I have singers singing, there are great arrangements.”

The singer later doubled down and assured fans that no one was forcing her to perform. “I get a chuckle from the comments wondering if anyone [is] It forces me to go on stage. “No one made me do anything I didn't want to do.”

Valli is currently traveling with the Four Seasons on a tour that is expected to last until April 2025. His next performance is scheduled for October 11 in Lake Prior, MN.

Amid the outrage on social media, rocker Lenny Kravitz shared a selfie with Valli during a serendipitous trip. “I just ran into the legendary Frankie Valli at the airport. Nothing but respect for you sir,” Kravitz wrote. “Endless hits and still touring at 90. Love!”
