Gap just launched its Friends & Family sale, offering shoppers 40% off almost everything on the site through August 19.
Gap hasn’t strayed far from the products that put it on the map, like well-fitting jeans, durable T-shirts, and wearable hoodies. But now Gap is starting to offer more interesting products and updated cuts, like loose cargo pants and even uniquely designed selvedge denim jackets that offer style far beyond the basics. This selvedge denim jacket is the coolest thing you can get during Gap’s Friends & Family sale, and it’s one we expect to sell out of. There’s nothing wrong with a classic Levi’s trucker jacket, but this jacket is decidedly more interesting, opting for a large chest patch pocket instead of the traditional double-button pockets. It’s meant to be a relaxed fit with plenty of layering room, but if you’re looking for a snug fit, Gap recommends ordering one size down.

If you can find jeans on sale before fall—especially ones with this much stretch and under $50—it’s one of the smartest purchases you’ll make this year. Gap denim is reliable for its variety of cuts, comfortable stretch, and wide range of washes; there’s a pair for everyone. These slim-fit jeans have a mid-rise fit that tapers toward the ankle, similar to Levi’s 511s. The brand’s athletic slim fit might be getting a lot of attention right now as a roomier alternative, but you can’t go wrong with these, especially in a black wash.

Gap’s hoodies are also a perennial favorite because they’re soft, perfectly shaped, and easy to wear with any outfit, and you can pick one up for less than $30 right now. Made from a combination of cotton and polyester, they’re comfortable and breathable, and they’ll come out of the wash looking just like the day you bought them. They come in sizes XS to 3XL and come in colors as neutral as black and as exciting as rusty orange.
