Country music star Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault and rape by a former employee, according to a lawsuit filed Oct. 3 in California state court.
Documents obtained by USA Today Outlines allegations of sexual assault and rape by a former makeup artist identified as “Jane Roe.” The anonymous plaintiff said he started doing hair and makeup for Brooks in 2017, but his history with the Brooks family goes back even further, as he first started doing hair and makeup for his future wife, Trisha Yearwood, in 1999.
Roe accused Brooks of actions such as exposing his genitals and buttocks on various occasions, telling her sexual fantasies and sending her explicit messages. In one alleged incident in 2019, while Brooks was at his home for work, Brooks came out of the shower naked and “grabbed his hands and forced them on his genitals.” The lawsuit later alleged that Brooks raped Roe in a Los Angeles hotel room in May 2019.
“Usually there were others on Brooks' private jet, but this time Ms. Roe and Brooks were the only two passengers,” the lawsuit said. CNN. “When she arrived at the hotel in Los Angeles, Ms. Roe could not believe that Brooks had booked a one-bedroom hotel suite and did not have a separate room.” Brooks allegedly “appeared at the bedroom door completely naked,” leaving Roe feeling “stuck in the room alone with Brooks.” The alleged rape resulted in Brooks continuing to discuss his sexual fantasies with Roe; this included “repeated statements” about “having a threesome” with Yearwood.
Roe's legal team shared a statement: USA Today Roe “has the courage to advance her complaints against Garth Brooks.”
“The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual harassers exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood, and the rap and rock and roll industries, but also in the world of country music,” the statement said. The statement was included. “We believe Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and efforts to silence our client by filing a preemptive complaint in Mississippi. This was nothing more than an attempt at desperation and intimidation. We encourage others who may be victims to do so as well. To ensure that survivors do not suffer in silence Contact us.”
The lawsuit comes after an unnamed celebrity (now revealed to be Brooks) filed a lawsuit in Mississippi federal court demanding authorities declare the accuser's further allegations to be false. The move was made before any claims were formally made on behalf of Roe. CNN.
