Get The Last Of Us Part 2 For $20, Upgrade To The Remaster For Just $10 More

Naughty Dog confirmed it will be kicking off its 2024 by releasing a remastered version of The Last Of Us Part 2 for PS5. That split the gaming community somewhat. While some welcomed a better-looking version of one of the greatest games ever made, others questioned why a sequel that was only released three years ago already needs to be remastered. When Naughty Dog added those who already own The Last Of Us Part 2 will be able to upgrade to the remastered version for $10, the mood changed a little.

The remaster falls into the same category as a lot of cross-gen games did when the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S launched, charging $10 to anyone with a last-gen version who wanted a current-gen version. You will be able to buy a new copy of The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered if you like, of course, whether you own the game on PS4 or not. You can pre-order it right now for $50. Or, if you want to save yourself a little money, you can just buy a $20 copy of the PS4 game and upgrade for $10 when the remaster launches on January 19, 2024.

Everything you need to know about pre-ordering The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered.

The base version of The Last Of Us Part 2 is still $39.99 in most places despite being three years old. Likely by design as that means there’s no benefit to buying that and the $10 upgrade path separately over just buying a fresh copy of the remaster. However, Walmart has cut the price of the sequel for a limited time to just $20. That means if you pick up a copy of The Last Of Us Part 2 through the link below, you will effectively get the remaster for just $30 as it’ll only cost you an additional $10 next month.

In The Last Of Us Part 2, the award-winning sequel to Naughty Dog’s smash hit, Ellie sets off for Seattle and a showdown with a deadly enemy.

Naughty Dog hasn’t detailed exactly how the upgrade path will work yet. You will probably have to search for it on or after January 19 through the PS Store, the store will clock that you own a copy of The Last Of Us Part 2, and you’ll then pay $10 if you want the upgrade. Buying the game for $20 means you will save yourself $20, and the only thing you’re missing out on is a physical PS5 copy of the remaster. You still get a physical copy of the original game, though. I think that’s a decent trade-off.

Whether you already own a copy of The Last Of Us Part 2 or not, you may well have had your head turned by the remaster’s WLF Edition. For $100, not only will you get a physical copy of the remaster in a special edition steelbook, but you’ll also get trading cards, enamel pins, and a patch for your jacket. All physical items, not just in-game goodies, so worth the additional $50 for hardcore The Last Of Us fans.
