GTA Online has been going for over a decade at this point, and you’d think Rockstar would have added pretty much everything players could possibly want during that time. One highly-requested addition that fans have wanted for years is the ability to buy police vehicles, something which you’d have thought would already be available given the game we’re talking about.
Well, it seems as though Rockstar has finally given into fan demands and has added three police vehicles as part of the recent Chop Shop update. A total of three vehicles can now be purchased after meeting certain requirements, including the Unmarked Cruiser, Stanier LE Cruiser, and the chonky Police Riot van. All of them are available for between $2.9 million and $4.8 million, so best get saving.
How Much Will GTA 6 Learn From Red Dead Redemption 2?
Rockstar peaked with both Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, so which one will GTA 6 take the most cues from?
To make things even better, there’s quite a lot of customization available for the Stanier LE Cruiser, which comes with over 120 liveries, as well as a series of lighting options and a couple of ram bars to choose from. Unfortunately, you can’t customize the Unmarked Cruiser, probably because it kind of defeats the point of the vehicle.
It also appears that these three vehicles might not be the only police cars added to GTA Online. According to a tweet from GTALeaks, they’ve managed to dig up the model of another vehicle after a spot of datamining, one which was featured in the recent GTA 6 trailer. It’s called the Gauntlet Hellfire, and the existence of the model suggests it will probably be added to GTA Online in a future update.
Of course, GTA 6 doesn’t actually launch until 2025 (most likely during the holiday season), so we’re still a couple of years out from abandoning GTA Online just yet. We can more than likely expect some more GTA 6-themed additions to GTA Online over the years until release, as Rockstar will want to do whatever it can to spread the word. It’s not like the game will need any extra attention, but it’ll be a nice bonus for GTA Online players that have stuck around for so long.
For now, we only have one trailer to watch on a loop, one which has already been reimagined as a PS1 game. It’s obviously not as pretty as the original, but definitely gives off the same retro charm that the original Vice City gives us over twenty years later.
