On November 1, Reese's announced the release of the limited-edition Deconstructed Peanut Butter Cup Kit.
This is the company's response to a viral Reddit post made by u/dewkitt on October 26th. “There was no peanut butter in my entire five-pack of Reese's,” the user wrote alongside a picture of five half-eaten Reese's. The Hershey Company, which owns Reese's, clarified the confusion by posting a coupon to the poster. But u/dewkitt probably doesn't see any remaining compensation from the idea they helped come up with.
“From Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins to Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Thins and everything in between, we know how personal your ideal chocolate-to-peanut butter ratio is,” the company said in a press release. “So go ahead, increase or decrease the peanut butter; we won't judge.”
After Snafu went viral, Hershey released the Deconstructed Peanut Butter Cup Kit so fans can have as much (or as little) PB as they want. Each kit comes with a hollow, 9-ounce chocolate bark and a 10-ounce Reese's peanut butter jar to fill it with. The kits were so popular that they “sold out in record time” within hours of debuting on the Hershey's Store website on November 2.
“Reese's fans know perfection when they see it,” the store's website reads. “Your overwhelming interest has led us to wonder: Should we bring back this limited-time kit sooner rather than later?” Only time will tell if jerseys will see a return for the holiday season (something tells us they will).
When available, the Deconstructed Peanut Butter Cup Set costs $22.99. Hershey's Store is offering 20 percent off all Reese's products through November 6, so now is the perfect time to pick up this year's stocking stuffers.
