Hoka shoes have proven to be far from a trend, with more runners and hikers becoming fans after finding the support and cushioning their feet have been craving. Hikers are now switching to the brand’s trail shoes for the same reason, so when Hoka’s best hiking boots started hitting the shelves earlier this summer, many were quick to grab a pair for themselves. The Kaha 2 GTX hiking boot has been at the forefront of the craze, and while sizes are mostly sold out at other retailers, you can still pick up a pair from Hoka before they sell out.
The Hoka Kaha 2 GTX Hiking Boots are on sale and still available at Hoka for $180—a rare 25% discount off their regular price of $240. These boots have received more than 350 five-star ratings from shoppers who say they’re like a “sturdy, high-top Bondi,” one of Hoka’s best-cushioned running shoes. They’re available in nine colors and come in sizes 7 to 15, but some are already starting to sell out.

This Hoka hiking boot features a waterproof nubuck leather upper and an ankle-high design made from waterproof, breathable Gore-Tex fabric. It features a wide sole design complete with 5mm Vibram MegaGrip rubber with Traction Lugs that dig into the ground like claws, but what’s even more impressive is the boot’s midsole. Hoka running shoes are known for their cushioning, and the brand didn’t deviate when designing the Kaha 2 hiking boot, giving it one of the thickest, softest midsoles we’ve seen on a hiking boot. Not only will it absorb shock better than a traditional hiking boot, but it’ll do so without adding any extra weight to the boot.
Many runners have already switched to Hoka’s shoes, but some hikers are starting to do the same. “As an older hiker who’s logged thousands of miles in a variety of different shoes and boots, I have to say these are some of the best I’ve ever worn,” one shopper admitted in a review on REI. “They’re lightweight and very comfortable. Surprisingly, they’re very stable. I thought I might sprain my ankle with all that cushioning, but the wide sole area seems to stabilize them effectively. I hiked 6 miles to test these out and couldn’t be happier.”

One shopper who chose them for a long hike in Mount Rainier National Park even said they were real. “The Hoka Kahas powered me through 100 miles of the Wonderland Trail,” she exclaimed. “I had serious doubts… but I decided to give it a shot because I needed some relief for my old bones from carrying a heavy backpack up in the mountains. In fact, A lot “steady, not at all soft, eating rugged rocks.”

It’s safe to say that Hoka has made a name for itself in the hiking world, and that’s largely due to the design of the Kaha 2 GTX Hiking Boot. Now that it’s on sale—and while Hoka still has sizes available—shoppers will be flocking to get a pair, so be sure to size up before they sell out.
