He is crucial to the plot of the first game and also appears in the sequel. However, he is not a playable character and is simply an NPC that players interact with during their missions. Considering this, Eli Roth still chose a superstar with Jamie Lee Curtis to play the role.

Like the other characters in the film, Roth chose to take a character from the game and make him completely different. Like Lilith, Tannis is young, much younger than Curtis. The casting choices chose strong actors rather than accurate game descriptions.

Jack Black as Claptrap

Jack Black seems like a natural choice to play the series mascot Claptrap. Claptrap is an overzealous robotic NPC that appears throughout the gamesand Black is an actor who can bring enough energy and comedy to the role to keep it entertaining, as in the wrong hands it could potentially be annoying.

Claptrap was one of the better video game-to-film adaptations, as it shares many of the game's signature parts. It includes a trapezoidal body shape and mechanical arms with attached claw gears. The yellow color scheme is the same, and the single blue, glowing eye on the circular lens is straight from the games. The only real difference is Jack Black's voice, and that doesn't really hurt. She gets most of the best lines, including some that should go to Tiny Tina based on the games.

Ariana Greenblatt as Little Tina

Little Tina is a fan favorite Border areas character. He is a small teenager who is whimsical but wild. He's an expert at takedowns and as deadly as they come, but he protects the kid's immaturity. In the film, it was necessary to find a young actress who could play innocent, but often angry and sometimes even vulgar roles. Apparently they found it in Ariana Glynnblatt, who was 16 when the movie came out.

Greenblatt started working on the Disney Channel as a child Stuck in the middle when he was only nine years old. It's almost shocking to see him playing a more grown-up role just a few years later, but it worked well for the character in the game. Tiny Tina's entire origin has been changed. Although he looks like a character from the games in the movie, he is actually genetically modified, which changes his origin even if his personality and appearance remain similar.

Edgar Ramirez as Atlas

Atlas is a character lacking diversity Border areas video games. She was created as an original character to move the plot for the movies and change the entire mission that Lilith knew in the games. In the movie, Edgar Ramirez plays Deucalian Atlas, and he's a badass. He hires Lilith to find his missing daughter, but that's not what he wanted. He genetically engineered Tiny Tina and sent Lilith to find her to open the Vault.

Tina is the only one who can open it, and gives the dangerous weapon she believes Atlas contains. However, there is a connection to video games. In the games, Atlas is one of the many companies that produce weapons and shields. This is a company, not a person or villain. However, the company is a threat throughout the game and no one is shown to lead it. It's possible that the Atlas in the movie is the CEO of Atlas, never seen in the games.

Gina Gershon as Mad Moxxi

Mad Moxxi is a DLC character Border areasa sadistic, charming, dangerous and fierce warrior. She is also promiscuous and has had multiple boyfriends during her time in the game's fictional world. She's not very old though, and is probably in her 40s, older than the other characters in this game, but younger than at least Lilith and Tannis in the movie. This is a recurring theme, though Gina Gershon plays Mad Moxxi and Gershon is 62 years old.

Roth seems to have cast some older actresses to play the roles of younger action heroes from video games, which is to be commended. However, while it's nice to see these ladies still get major roles, it makes them very different from the video game in age, appearance, and origin stories. He has a long list of credits to his name, including Gershon Cocktail, Pretty in Pink, Red Heat, Showgirlsand more.
