Agatha All Together Star Kathryn Hahn made her place in Marvel history with her nude scene in the pilot episode of the series, currently streaming on Disney+.
The series sees Hahn reprise her role as Agatha Harkness, the fan-favorite witch who breaks free from the spell of the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). Although only Hahn's behind is visible in the scene, her artfully placed long hair keeps things within PG-13 limits, a somewhat radical first for the MCU. Movies and TV shows have occasionally featured scantily clad male stars, often for the sake of humor, but there's never been a hint of female nudity in the MCU.
“I found this,” Hahn said. Diversity “I thought it was good to see her literally, as stripped down as possible, which spoke to her current powerlessness,” the actor explained. “At that point in the series, she's been stripped of all her power,” he continued. “So, at that point, she really didn't have anything, and so it became about portraying the gap between that moment and her finding her power again.”
Showrunner Jac Schaeff confirmed Hahn's version of events, claiming that the moment was improvised on set. “Kathryn said, 'Would she grab the robe? I don't think she'd grab the robe. I don't think she'd really mind being naked in front of the neighbors,'” Schaeff said.
Hahn is no stranger to on-screen nudity, having played much more revealing roles over the years, which Schaeffer believes makes the moment even more powerful. “Kathryn has done so much work and has done so much nudity and other things, so it felt very subversive to bring Kathryn Hahn's nudity into the MCU.”
