No one makes friends like Gaston!

The Royal Hourglass is the key to restoring the bridge, but thanks to time passing, it doesn’t have enough power to fix the shattered bridge yet. You’ll need to follow Jafar’s instructions and unlock one of the Hourglass’ original abilities if you want to keep moving forward.

How To Unlock Sands In The Hourglass

Player character listening to Jafar give them the directions to the first time jewel on Eternity Isle in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Sands In The Hourglass is unlocked after completing several prior quests: The Secret of Eternity Isle, The Flying Metal Nuisance, and Goofy’s Give Me A Sign, which is a part of The Secret of Eternity Isle.

To start the quest, take the Royal Hourglass back to Jafar after finishing The Flying Metal Nuisance, and speak to him again. After telling you about your new power and new tool, it turns out the shattered bridge can’t be fixed just yet.

The Royal Hourglass is too weak to deal with it, and you’ll need to find three Time Crystals in order to restore its full power.

How To Find The First Time Crystal

Player character using the Royal Hourglass' time powers to pull a hidden object from a time portal in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Head to the corridor on the right side of The Courtyard that’s blocked by small Swirling Sands obstacles. Equip your Royal Hourglass from the tool wheel, use it to clear the Swirling Sands, then continue through the corridor until you reach The Secluded Beach.

Speak to Jafar at the Hologram Station to the right of the statue. He’ll tell you that the statue nearby contains the first Time Jewel, but it’s been broken, and you’ll need to use your Royal Hourglass to find ancient materials to repair it.

Equip the Royal Hourglass, then press Y to make it scan the surrounding area for anything hidden in time. A curved icon will appear around you and point in the direction of the nearest hidden object, and its color will change the closer you are to it:

  • Pale blue means the item is far away.
  • Bright yellow means the item is close to your location.
  • Bright red means you’re within a few steps of the item.

Once you’ve located the spot where a hidden object has been found, then press A repeatedly until you’ve pulled the item out of time.

Use the Royal Hourglass’ power to find the two Ancient Statue Fragments near the Statue of Time, and then your quest will update, and you’ll need to find three Ancient Plates next.

Ancient parts appear randomly all over Ancient Landing after you find the Ancient Statue Fragments, including The Docks and The Courtyard, so it may take a few tries to find all the pieces.

Once you’ve got all three Ancient Plates, head back to the Secluded Beach and speak to Jafar again. He’ll give you the recipe for the statue’s arm, and instead of using a crafting bench, you’ll have to use the new Timebending Table to make it.

Go into your inventory and use the recipe, then interact with the Timebending Table next to the Hologram Station. You’ll find the Statue’s Arm in the Quest tab, so craft it using the ancient materials, then interact with the Statue of Time.

With the statue restored, it’ll light up and give you the first Time Crystal, but you’ve still got two more to get. Head back to The Courtyard, and speak with Jafar again to check in.

How To Repair The Shattered Bridge

Player character restoring the shattered bridge on Eternity Isle using Mist in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

With one Time Jewel, your Hourglass has been powered up, and you’ve got enough power to restore the bridge, but you’ll need the new Mist currency in order to channel that power. In total, you’ll need 2,000 Mist to help you restore the bridge.

Mist can be collected like Dreamlight, and you can obtain it by completing Mist Duties, completing Eternity Isle Duties, using the Royal Hourglass to clear Swirling Sand obstacles, completing Eternity Isle-related quests, or using the Royal Hourglass to search for hidden objects.

Once you’ve got enough Mist, interact with the bridge and channel your Mist into reversing time to restore it and complete the quest.
