What is the max battle in Pokémon GO?
Super Sized Version of Raid Battle
Max Battles are a new type of battle featuring the giant Dynamax Pokémon from the main line Pokémon Sword and Shield games. They take place at Power Stations located around the in-game map and give you a task defeating a powered-up, oversized version of a regular Pokemon. You can take them on by yourself or team up with up to three other Trainers to increase your chances of winning.
What makes Max Battles different from regular Raid Battles is that you will you can only use Pokémon with the Dynamaxing ability. These are indicated by an X appearing next to their sprite in your Pokémon memory. You'll start the battle with regular Quick Attacks and Charged Attacks, but after dynamizing your Pokémon, you'll be able to use special Max Attacks that deal massive amounts of damage.
You will only be able to take three Pokemon to a Max Battle
Pokémon GO
unlike traditional Raid Battles that allow you to choose a team of six. There is no timer in these battles either. Instead, a Max Battle will end when all of your Pokémon faint.
You need 250 Max particles to enter a maximum battlealthough they won't leave your inventory unless you win them. When participating in a Max Battle, you can Dynamax one of your Pokémon that can do this. If you successfully defeat your Dynamax opponent, you'll have a chance to capture them in a giant Poké Ball. Then you will be able to use this Pokemon in future Max Battles.
How to Find Maximum Battle
Track power points using the nearby feature
Max Battles take place in Power Spots, a new kind of landmark on the map. They look like pink towers with a giant X symbol and floating orbs on top. You can often see them in the distance on the map, but if you can't see any, tap the “Nearby” button in the bottom right corner of the screen and go to the Power Spot tab. a list of power points near your current location.
Like PokéStops and Gyms, if you live in a rural area, you may have a hard time finding Power Spots here.
Pokémon GO
. You can still earn Max Particles by exploring, but you can only participate in Max Battles by visiting a Power Spot.
Before moving on to a new location, it's important to note that Power Spots only appear for a limited time (usually around two days). When you touch the Power Point, a timer will appear showing how long it will take for it to disappear, so make sure you visit before that happens. Power Spots are also completely separate from PokéStops and Gyms, so they'll never take their place on the map.
How to Win at Maximum Battle
Use strategy and team up with other trainers
After paying the 250 Max Particle entry fee and starting a Max Battle, you'll be required to choose up to three Dynamax-able Pokémon for your team. Just like regular Raid Battles, you will you want to choose a Pokémon that is effective against your opponent. For example, if you're fighting Dynamax Charmander, having Squirtle on your team would be a great choice, as Water-type attacks are super effective against Fire-type Pokémon.
You won't have many Dynamax-able Pokémon to choose from at this early stage. Fortunately, the One-Star Max Battle opponents currently in the game shouldn't pose much of a threat. If you only have Dynamax Wooolo, power it up as much as you can, upgrade it if you can, and let it fall.
You'll start a Max Battle with your Pokémon in normal form, so treat it like a regular Raid Battle; attack as quickly as possible and unleash Damage Attacks when you can. like you damage and slide across the screen to collect energy bubblesyou will slowly fill the Max Meter at the top of the screen. Once this meter is full your Pokémon will be Dynamax, this is where the real fun begins.
With your Pokémon now in Dynamax state, you will have three turns before returning to normal state. At this point, you can slow down and think strategically about your plan of action. Your primary choice is a Maximum AttackA powerful attack based on typing your Pokémon's Quick Attack, but you can also use it Max Guard to reduce the damage taken from your opponent's attacks or Max Ruh to heal yourself and allied Pokemon.
Max Attacks are unlocked by default, but Max Guard and Max Spirit must be trained using a combination of Max Particles and Candy. You can also increase the effect of these three options by additionally using Max Particles and Candies, although this gets expensive very quickly.
If you manage to win the Max Battle, then you will have a chance to capture the Dynamax Boss you defeated. It works like Raid Battles, where you'll be given a limited number of Premier Balls to throw based on your performance, although there's a fun animation that turns into a giant Premier Ball before you throw it. Don't forget to use Razz Berries and aim for Super Curveballs to increase your chances of catching them.
