If you want the newest card as soon as it’s available, you’ll need to stock up on your Spotlight Keys. Below, we’ll take a look at everything you need to know about the Spotlight Cache and Key system, including how to get and use Spotlight Keys.

What Are Spotlight Keys And Spotlight Caches?

The Spotlight Cache system is the primary way to obtain Series 4 and 5 cards. Every week, a new set of cards will rotate into the Spotlight Cache. These will consist of one brand-new card, two previous cards, and one random card. Each card has exactly a 25 percent chance of being obtained upon using a Spotlight Key.

If you already own any of the three featured cards included in the Spotlight Cache, they will instead be replaced by an exclusive Spotlight Variant. These card Variants can only be obtained from Spotlight Caches, and won’t appear in the store in the future.

If you already own the fourth, random card, it will instead be replaced by 1,000 Collector’s Tokens.

If you continue to open Spotlight Caches after obtaining a card’s Spotlight Variant, it will instead be replaced with a random Premium Variant. Premium Variants are any card Variant that can appear in the shop, with the exception of Pixel Variants.

How To Get And Use Spotlight Keys

rewards for collection level including spotlight key, and the weekly cards in the spotlight cache

Spotlight Keys are earned by upgrading your Collector Level. Starting at level 500, and at every 120 levels after that, you’ll earn a Spotlight Key. These will be stored for you to use whenever you want.

Without going too much into the math, you can get around one Spotlight Key per week, if you’re completing all your daily missions and progressing in the season pass. This means it will take you around one month of saving up Keys to guarantee getting a new card.

The best way to utilize the Spotlight Cache system is to save up four Spotlight Keys to guarantee the card you want. There’s a chance you’ll get lucky and get the card on your first Key, which will let you save the remaining Keys for future Caches. This system incentivizes saving up your Keys, using them on cards you really want instead of trying to get the newest card each week.

To use your Spotlight Keys, simply press and hold on the Spotlight Cache icon below the four available weekly cards. This will unlock the Cache, granting you one of the cards. You can repeat this process for each Key you have.
