In the opening episodes of season 4, he navigates sobriety and introspection. - The Hargreaves brothers restore Klaus' powers against his will to save his life, which seems incredibly contrived and ultimately pointless since Klaus' powers don't affect the main story.
- Klaus' journey
Umbrella Academy
Season 4 takes a dark turn that takes a huge toll on the character.
Umbrella Academy Season 4 introduced us to a new version of Klaus Hargreaves (Robert Sheehan) – one without his powers and ultimately happier without Marigold-derived abilities. Of all the Hargreaves brothers' powers, I think Klaus might be the scariest. At first, Klaus has the ability to communicate with the dead, including the late Ben Hargreaves (Justin H. Min), who died under mysterious circumstances, and temporarily return the dead to their corporeal forms. Even after Umbrella Academy end of season 2, Klaus still uses alcohol and drugs to numb the ghostly voices.
In my opinion, one of the most tragic revelations about Klaus' powers comes out Umbrella Academy The end of season 3, when it is revealed that Klaus is immortal. Able to heal his wounds, revive himself, and reform his physical body, Klaus views his immortality as a curse, largely because he cannot escape its grim reality—a reality that sees Klaus wandering between the worlds of the living and the dead. tragically, Klaus's superhuman abilities and the trauma they cause fuel his substance use disorder and addiction to vices.that's why I found Klaus' brief invention of season four so appealing.
I Loved the New Klaus at the beginning of Umbrella Academy Season 4
Klaus Hargreaves is a Happier Man Without His Powers
After the Hargreeves brothers reset Umbrella Academy's season 3 finale, they discover they no longer have powers. As a result, most of the Hargreaves brothers go their separate ways. Six years after resetting the universe, Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), who once had the ability to control minds and manipulate reality, pursues an acting career as her teenage daughter Claire (Millie Davis) grows up. But Allison and Claire don't live alone: Klaus has set up camp in the duo's basement. – and it's one of my favorite dynamics Umbrella Academy 4 seasons.
While some of Klaus's new behaviors are painted as eccentricities – and annoyingly played for laughs – I think it's a very real consequence of losing his immortality.
Klaus' absence at the start of season 4 Umbrella Academy powers pushed him to embrace sobriety. However, the loss has made him extremely vigilant when it comes to avoiding death and its many causes. An overcautious germaphobe, Klaus insists on wearing surgical gloves and a mask On the way out of Allison's house. While some of Klaus's new behaviors are being chalked up as eccentricities — and annoyingly played for laughs — I think it's a very real consequence of losing his immortality. This change not only developed Klaus' stuck arc, but also refreshed the sibling dynamic.

Klaus' Relapse Is Really Hard To Watch
The Hargreaves brothers give up Klaus to save Marigold's life – But it comes at a price
Klaus Hargreaves story of trauma and relapse is quite difficult to follow and in my opinion is a completely unnecessary addition to the story. Committed to staying sober, Klaus throws Marigold's spike in order for Ben to slip into the rest of the Hargreaves. When the brothers arrive in New Grumpson, Maine, to rescue Jennifer (Victoria Sawal), Klaus is the only one without powers — by choice. During a skirmish with Reginald Hargreaves' (Colm Feore) mercenary army, Klaus is mortally wounded, forcing his siblings to pour the remaining Marigold into his chest wound to save Klaus' life.despite his protests.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4 finale erases Klaus' self-destructive tendencies and a truly traumatic four-season journey.
When an infusion of marigold saves Klaus' life and restores his terrifying powers, the event pushes him to bend. Watching Klaus fall into old patterns is incredibly difficult. To solve the problem, Klaus steals from his niece Claire and refuses her help. It was one of them for me Umbrella Academy Season 4's more heartwarming moments — in part because the show was revisiting old ground and scrapping some really important character development. To make matters worse, Umbrella Academy The season 4 finale erases Klaus' self-destructive tendencies and a truly traumatic four-season journey.

“The New Klaus” confirms Umbrella Academy's most tragic character
Klaus' “Umbrella Academy” series finale is just plain sad
It's no secret that problems happen Umbrella Academy The end of season 4, however, is particularly infuriating with the show's treatment of Klaus. After his powers are restored without his consent, Klaus is essentially separated from his other siblings. Returning to patterns of self-harm, Klaus is kidnapped and then forced into sex work and prostitution by his captors.. Although he manages to escape, Klaus is buried alive for a time. When he finally joins the Hargreaves in the finale, the show tries to make a joke about Klaus' tangential narrative.
It's even sadder when Klaus tells Allison that he's proud to be someone she can look up to when she doesn't have powers.
However, Klaus' season 4 journey is far from over.funny story,” and the show's insistence on removing him and treating Klaus' ongoing (and past) trauma as comedic relief is terrible. Plus, the decision to forcibly restore Klaus' powers is clearly a misstep. Finally, Klaus' powers serve no purpose in the final battle, meaning their only function was to disrupt his character development and force him back into self-destructive, play-for-laughs models. It's even sadder when Klaus tells Allison that he's proud to be someone she can look up to when she doesn't have powers.
Coincidentally, Klaus gains the ability to fly during the siblings' final battle, but that doesn't justify the recovery of his damaging power.
The idea of Klaus finding the strength within himself to fight for himself sounds incredibly empty. Like most of the Hargreave sisters' self-reflective journeys in season four, Klaus feels completely disconnected from the larger narrative at hand — Umbrella Academy's Cleanse, Marigold and Durango caused. Thanks to his no-nonsense solo performance, Klaus never finds out why or how the original Ben died before he agreed to sacrifice himselfalong with his surviving brothers and Lila Pitts (Ritu Arya) to rescue Umbrella Academytimelines. Finally, Umbrella Academy Season 4 did a huge disservice to Klaus Hargreaves' story.
