Bungie wasn't the only developer to end July with staff cuts. Developers at publisher Armor Games revealed they had been laid off, though the actual number of cuts is unclear, as is the reason for the layoffs.
It appears these cuts were concentrated on Armor's editorial team. Producer Michelle Lega He wrote that his group “will be looking for work soon, so if you're hiring an editorial team, we're all very qualified and work well together!”
“Today is my last day at Armor Games Studios,” wrote the marketing manager Ariana Perry“While it will take a while to fully process the change, I am immensely grateful for the amazing colleagues and developers I have been able to work with during my time here.”
“I've known this was going to happen for a long time, but it still seems unreal,” League he added. “My time at Armor has been incredible, thanks in large part to my amazing colleagues and the developers I've worked with.”
Three games are still reportedly scheduled for release
The most recent game to come out under the Armor banner will be Antony Lavelle's Shift Legacy Collection August 7th. There are currently three games that have not been published and whose status is unclear in the event that the entire editorial team leaves.
If Armor has eliminated its entire publishing division, it is the second publisher to do so. Days ago, Humble games has laid off its entire editorial team in a restructuring that has thrown recent developer partners having trouble updating their games.
The game developer has reached out to Armor Games, and we'll update this story as soon as we hear back.
