It's kind of trodden ground at the moment. I wouldn't rule anything out, but I have 23 other projects in the queue before this hypothetical one, so I'm going to guess that I'm 70, it's not going to happen. You have to pick your battles at some point. Do you know what I mean?

James Cameron's Aliens Is The Perfect Sequel

Cameron's film created elements of the much-loved franchise

with ForeignersCameron built on what Ridley Scott established in the original film, going beyond claustrophobia and shocking horror to fight the Xenomorphs. Success is fresh TerminatorCameron's sequel did exactly what the title suggested, involving a full-on Xenomorph outbreak, complete with the formation of hives. He also determined that they could defeat even the most heavily armed regiment of colonial marines. Along with the sprawling setting and larger cast, the sequel added new layers to the legacy that would become mainstays of the franchise.

Despite its move into the action genre, Aliens remains incredibly true to its predecessor's mandate, but also builds on deeper themes, subtext, and screen terror.

Foreigners while taking the danger and spectacle to more intense levels, it never lost touch with the priorities of the original film. The more subtle threat of the Weyland-Yutani company continues to lurk in the background as corporate businessmen like Burke ignore the horrors the Nostromo crew faces and thus send more innocent civilians to their deaths in pursuit of profit. Despite moving to the action genre, Foreigners while building on both deeper themes, subtext, and on-screen horror, it stays incredibly true to its predecessor's mandate.

Cameron's work Avatar allowed him to further push the technical marvels that the sci-fi genre could offer. Moreover, he may not have led a new development Alien installment, Romulus Director Fede Alvarez admitted that both Cameron and Scott helped him develop his film, indicating that Cameron was willing to contribute. But with future adventures in Pandora on the horizon Avatar: Fire and Ashesit's clear that Cameron is focused on reviving his new, more optimistic sci-fi franchise.
