Jay Leno takes a closer look at Chevrolet's next-generation C8 Corvette ZR1 in a new episode Jay Leno's Garage.
Known for his decades-long stint on late-night television, Leno is also one of the most recognizable names in the automotive industry. He even has the scars to prove it; he suffered multiple serious injuries in automotive-related accidents in November 2022 and January 2023.
Leno released the latest episode of the series Jay Leno's Garage On Monday, August 26, GM invited President Mark Reuss to provide a full breakdown of the new Corvette ZR1's capabilities.
The ZR1 is the pinnacle of Corvette engineering, renowned for its speed, handling and advanced technology. The C8-generation ZR1 features a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces an astonishing 1,064 horsepower.
The new Corvette ZR1 is one of the most anticipated sports cars on the market, and even Leno was blown away by its beauty and capabilities, which is saying a lot.
“Now this is the new ZR1 Corvette with 1,064 horsepower, which is incredible to me,” Leno said.
According to Reuss, the price of Chevrolet's latest sports car has not yet been set, but Leno mentioned that millions of dollars would be required to buy the equivalent of the new ZR1 abroad from a European automaker.
“We haven't set the price yet, but we will,” Reuss added. “It will stay true to the Corvette tradition – eager but approachable. And it's the best amount of horsepower on the market. It will set a new watermark in the market.”
“Just the engineering,” Leno interjected. “I mean, to get a European equivalent, you would have to spend literally millions of dollars.”
If Leno is impressed, then Chevrolet has created a winner. Watch the full episode below:
