NBA champion Jayson Tatum's new tattoo has all his fans talking, and not always for the right reasons.
Photos of the Boston Celtics forward's new back art began circulating on social media this week. The artwork shows him kissing the Larry O'Brien Trophy, celebrating his first NBA championship. The tattoo joins other tattoos on Tatum's back celebrating his hometown of St. Louis.
Unsurprisingly, fans on X (formerly Twitter) had a lot of opinions on Tatum's latest addition. “People are gonna find a way to hate on him for this– lmfao this is crazy,” @TheCelticsGlobe correctly predicted.
“The meanest player in the NBA,” one naysayer quickly countered. “I love Tatum, but I find it weird that he’s getting a tattoo of himself,” another mused. “Like you wouldn’t hang that picture on your crib????”
But other users defended Tatum's artistic choices. “Tatum brings out his championship energy with new ink!” @GaasCmb wrote. “This hardcore ion doesn't care what you say,” another agreed.
Many people didn't understand the passionate opposition to the ink. Tatum was a major factor in the Celtics winning the championship. He averaged 25 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game during the playoffs. In Game 5, Tatum had 31 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.
“I don't understand why she gets so much hate even though it's her first ring,” @KD35Muse wrote, “She was so close for 6 years and she finally won.”
