Joaquin Phoenix's 'Complicated' 'Joker 2' Weight Loss Regime

At a press conference at the Venice Film Festival on Wednesday (source: Diversity), Joaquin Phoenix talks about returning to his infamous career Joker She revealed that she is dieting for the upcoming musical's sequel and would never go to such extremes for a role again.

Phoenix talked a lot about her diet Joker during the film's 2019 press tour. To achieve the character's skeletal structure, Phoenix lost about 52 pounds by eating mostly steamed vegetables and lettuce. It's been so well-documented that Phoenix told reporters in Venice, “I'm not going to get into the details of the diet because I don't think anyone wants to hear about it.”

But Phoenix said losing weight for the second time Joker: Folie vs Deux was actually harder. “This time it felt a little more complicated because we had a lot of dance rehearsals, which I didn't do last time,” she explained.

“So it felt a little harder, but it’s safe,” Phoenix continued. As safe as it is, she doesn’t see herself going that far again. “I’m 49 now, I probably shouldn’t do this again. That’s probably it for me,” she admitted.

Later in the conference, Phoenix expressed that he was reluctant to talk too much about his physical transformation because he felt it overshadowed the more detailed discussions around it. Joker.

“I know I mentioned this last time, but it's hard to do, so it becomes your obsession because you're constantly working to get to a certain weight,” Phoenix explains.

“Then you start talking about it and then it sounds like an actor talking about how much weight he lost,” he continued. “At the end of it [publicity] Run, I was so fed up with myself and so mad at myself for making such a big deal about that part, because you just do what you're supposed to do. So this time I said, 'I'm not going to do it.'”

Phoenix declined to give the exact number of pounds she lost, but at one point told reporters she had lost “47 pounds,” quickly adding, “No, I'm kidding. I don't know.”
