Johnny Depp appears to have broken his silence on the infamous libel case between himself and ex-wife Amber Heard, making thinly veiled remarks on the matter at a press conference at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Depp is in Spain to promote his new directorial effort Modi – Three Days on the Wings of MadnessIt is about the Parisian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani.
The Pirates of the Caribbean The star was largely declared persona non grata in Hollywood after an explosive lawsuit emerged following a column written by Heard. Washington Post Alleged that Depp had physically and emotionally abused her (without naming names). The jury found that Heard's allegations of “sexual violence” and “domestic abuse” were made with “actual malice” and were therefore defamatory of Depp. Heard was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages from Heard. Depp was also found to have defamed Heard in some of his comments, but the rest of the case was ruled in Depp's favor.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Depp compared Modigliani's chaotic and somewhat controversial life to his own. I mean, literally, it was televised,” he added, prompting laughter from some of the reporters in the room.
“But we all go through the things we go through,” Depp continued.
