Kiss Cam Proposal Goes Horribly Wrong on So Many Levels

When it comes to the worst ways to propose to your significant other, it's no secret that proposing on camera in a crowded sports arena is the absolute worst possible thing. (In fact, any public proposal with a crowd is probably best avoided at all costs.)

For example, a Los Angeles Chargers fan decided to propose to his girlfriend via kiss cam during Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, and it ended in the worst possible way.

In a short clip posted to X (formerly Twitter) by another fan at the match, the woman’s lover can be seen getting down on one knee in excitement after realizing they were on camera. But judging by her body language, his girlfriend clearly didn’t agree with the move, at one point cupping her hand over her mouth and waving her arms at him as if to silence the offer.

Just then, another bystander comes down the stairs with a tray of nachos and a drink and pours what looks like orange curd and soda over the poor man, adding insult to injury to the failed proposal.

The video has racked up nearly 2.5 million views since it was posted on Saturday night, but not everyone is convinced it's real. Many commenters have chimed in, saying the video is clearly staged. And for what it's worth, it appears the third fan spilled his drink on the man on purpose.

“Every fake sketch like this should cost a team a draft pick. This is embarrassing,” one user wrote, while another simply added: “The most fake embarrassment.”

“So stupid,” another fan wrote. “Is this so pathetic [Los Angeles] “Do sports teams have to do stupid 'viral' skits? It's sad.”

As another user noted, it's not yet known if this moment was an engagement, no pun intended. But it's also worth noting that the Chargers didn't release the video. Either way, if this move stops even one person from propositioning him for a kiss—real or fake—we can give it a shot.
