If you’re reading this, chances are you’ll have seen a ridiculous clip of Lethal Company on social media at some point. It may have launched back in October, but the indie co-op horror title has exploded in popularity over the past few weeks, and is currently the third most-played title on Steam.

That’s an incredibly impressive feat for a game like Lethal Company, but the title’s accolades don’t end there. At the time of writing, Lethal Company sits at the top of the list of Steam’s top-rated games of 2023, having passed the likes of behemoths such as Resident Evil 4 and Baldur’s Gate 3. It currently has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam after almost 83,000 reviews, 98 percent of which are positive.

It shows absolutely no sign of being removed either, as more and more clips of the title flood social media, showcasing the game’s unique mixture of horror and slapstick comedy. It helps that it’s a popular title among streamers too, as Lethal Company has more viewers on Twitch than games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Minecraft, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, Dead by Daylight, and many more.

In fact, only Fortnite, GTA V, and the ever popular Just Chatting category have more viewers, really driving home just how much of a moment LEthal Company is having right now.

We definitely shouldn’t be too surprised to see Lethal Company flourishing as it has done, especially since game like Fall Guys, Rust, and Among Us have all had similar explosions of success in the past. Every now and again a game resonates with the public for one reason or another, streamers pick it up and start enjoying it, and that leads to widespread acclaim and the attention of people who would’ve otherwise had no idea it even existed.

It’s very impressive for a title that’s still in early access too, as the game’s creator states on Lethal Company’s Steam page that they haven’t quite realized its full ambition yet. All they wanted was a bit of feedback to see where they should take the direction of the game, and I think we can say the community has more than delivered. With consistent updates filled with interesting content and new things to do, coupled with listening to feedback and community requests, it could be a game with a very bright future ahead of it.
