Detroit Lions linebacker Aiden Hutchinson suffered a gruesome injury in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, but the 24-year-old is expected to make a full recovery, the team said Monday. But it's less certain when he can return to the field.
Hutchinson was injured in the third quarter of the game while trying to sack Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott as the Lions won 34-6. Unfortunately, during the scuffle, his left leg hit one of his teammates, causing fractures to his tibia and tibia. Hutchinson quickly fell to the ground and a medical cart eventually arrived to take him away.
Following his injury, both Hutchinson's teammates and Cowboys players rallied around him to show their support.
“Aiden Hutchinson underwent successful surgery last night at Baylor White Medical Center in Irving, Texas, to repair his broken tibia and fibula,” the Lions said in a statement. he said. “Hutchinson will return to Detroit this week and is expected to make a full recovery. There is no timetable for his return to play.”
Despite losing the second overall pick in 2022, the Lions defeated the Cowboys in a history-making 47-9 game. The so-called Scorigami event marked the first time in NFL history that a game ended with a perfect score of 47-9, marking the 1,087th unique final score in league history. This is the third Skorigami from the 2024 season so far, putting it on track to likely surpass 2023, which had nine Skorigami in total.
