Check out what he had to say on the matter below:

There's this deep, deep interest in existential nature that Arondir has. It is neither here nor there. We have never met a character like him or an elf like him in the world of cinema. Like, he's not a royal elf, he doesn't have all that political power, but he's not human. He is simply at the mercy of both places. So he finds himself in this particular space, trying to find meaning. “What am I? Who am I? What am I doing?” He finds it in love in a certain way, but it goes in a direction we shall see. In a way, he finds love, he finds family, and he finds community. Because at the end of season 1, the Southlanders also want to be with him, but with that, everything turns upside down. As we all say, grief or loss is directly proportional to the amount of love you experience and he is a noble boy. He is a very noble man, he promised to protect and he will protect. At what cost? Adapt.
